why we are running

Former Mayor Andrew LaBruno

Andrew brings years of experience as a former Dumont Mayor, Jersey City Police Sergeant, and community organizer. His journey into public service began as a way to overcome the bureaucratic red tape that stood in the way of family and community events. Andrew has always been focused on breaking through political stagnation to deliver real, tangible results.

Councilman David Jiang

David’s perspective comes from his background as an entrepreneur who left Wall Street to start his own business. Frustrated by the political machine in Demarest, he ran off the line for a Council seat to stand up for what he believed was right. His commitment to bold, honest leadership resonates with residents looking for change.

WHO WE ARE

Fathers. Husbands. Family Men.

Andrew and David are not only husbands and fathers but also dedicated members of the Bergen County and Legislative District 39 community. As family men, they deeply understand the challenges and joys of raising children in this area. They are committed to ensuring that families here feel safe, that children receive a high-quality education, and that commuting challenges are addressed effectively. Andrew and David share a vision for a community where safety, education, and infrastructure are prioritized, and they work tirelessly to make that vision a reality for all residents.

what we stand for

Public Safety

  •  Ensure police officers and firefighters have the tools, training, and resources needed to protect our communities, including funding for mental health initiatives to support first responders.
  • Provide funding to address recruitment and retention challenges
  • Safeguard the benefits earned by first responders, including fighting to reinstate COLA (Cost of Living Adjustments) for retirees.

Stabilizing Taxes

  •  Lead the charge to audit the production and effectiveness of all state departments.
  • Establish a intensive, fair, and transparent budget process to scrutinize expenses and eliminate wasteful spending.
  • Stabilize spending by cutting failed initiatives and focusing on essential services.
  • Work with local government to ensure state funding and grant funds are being utilized to offset costs to taxpayers.

Transportation

  • Fight for a fair deal with New York to address the burden of congestion pricing and its impacts on our district.
  • Secure cost savings and dedicated funding for expanded public transit.
  • Improve transportation access to underserved areas to ensure affordability and reliability by ensuring NJ Transit is funded

Infrastructure

  • Allocate funding to repair deteriorating roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure.
  • Prioritize flood mitigation to protect our communities from recurring damage.
  • Support local governments in managing infrastructure challenges effectively.

Education

  • Fully fund schools to provide a high-quality education for every child.
  • Increase resources for special education and support for students with disabilities.
  • Fund advanced placement for gifted and talented students.
  • Advocate for modern curriculums and workforce development programs to prepare students for future success.

Reproductive Rights

  •  Protect Personal Freedom: Reproductive health care decisions must remain between individuals and their medical providers—free from political interference.
  • Guarantee Access for All: Every New Jersey resident deserves safe, legal, and affordable reproductive health care. I will oppose any policy that restricts access or creates barriers.
  • Advance Women’s Rights: New Jersey must not only defend but actively expand women’s rights to make informed decisions about their own reproductive health.

Housing Affordability for All

  • Promote Smart Growth: Launch targeted state grant programs that encourage collaboration among municipalities, developers, and community leaders to craft locally tailored housing strategies—reducing red tape and costly litigation.
  • Expand Housing for Disabled Veterans and People with Disabilities: Invest in co-op and inclusive housing models that emphasize accessibility, long-term affordability, and environmental sustainability.
  • Preserve Affordability and Community Roots: Support legislation that keeps housing within reach for working families, enables residents to live near their jobs, and allows seniors to age in place with dignity.
